Carmarthen Estate Agent to close
The Carmarthen branch of South Wales estate agent Peter Alan is to close, together with the Aberdare office of the chain which has almost 40 years experience in house sales. The closure was decided in an emergency meeting held yesterday (23rd October 2008) in Cardiff.
Peter Alan Ltd, who is a wholly owned subsidiary of Principality Building Society, closed its Mumbles branch earlier this year loosing 19 members of staff. That the closure of the Carmarthen and Aberdare branches is likely to result in 31 redundancies.
It is expected that the business of the Carmarthen branch will be taken on by another local Estate Agent. Peter Alan staff will be contacting customers to explain the reasons for the move and to assure them of their continuing support and customer service.
A spokesperson for Peter Alan said: “Due to unprecedented property market conditions the business has conducted a review of its operations and staffing requirements. Peter Alan is also proposing to re-engineer its operations to improve the structure of the business. This has resulted in the creation of some new roles to drive further business improvements. Despite testing marketing conditions Peter Alan remains committed to a future in the estate agency market across South Wales.”
