I nearly bought a chopper today

Tesco's in Carmarthen had a promotion on today - a EuroChopper, which is not the helicopter version of the EuroFighter but an instrument to chop vegetables and herbs. It did a great job, easy to use, easy to clean, quick to chop. What rattled me, was that it was sold at the promotional price of £25 - and for this you did get two of the choppers, plus a pair of scissors, plus another garnishing instrument - total value £85. Great Value, isn't it? Well, I think that if prices have not been misquoted, and the retail price of £85 is correct, then we are really being ripped off big style when we buy these items off the shelf at the normal price.

There are no consumables or add-ons for these items, so there are no spin-off sales generated. If they had been, then there just might be a small possibility of Tesco selling these at a small loss today - a very slight posibility. But as there are no future spin-off sales they must have made a profit on the sale price today - even with the added cost of employing a person to do a demonstration. This means that more than £60 of the normal price is pure profit - so if the full price was quoted incorrectly, then we have been lied to today - if we haven't been lied to today then we are being ripped off!!!
