Carmarthen is the County Town of Carmarthenshire and an importand business and recreational centre for the area. While many high street shops and brands are available in Carmarthen, the many locally owned shops, cafes and restaurants play a major part in maintaining the unique character of the Town of Carmarthen.
For the High Street Shopper, the most interesting area in Carmarthen will be St. Cathrine's Walk which opened in Aprill 2010. One of the most modern Cinemas in Europe (the most modern cinema at the time of opening!!), a Debenhams Store, Miss Selfridge, Costa Coffee, New Look, Carphone Warehouse, Next, RiverISland, Pizza Express and many more High Street Names can be found there.
Some of the more interesting shops and retail outlets however can be found in the old streets of Carmarthen and in Carmarthen Market (which has been integrated into the St Catherine's Walk Development). Walk through Red Street, Blue Street, Lammas Street, King Street and the Guildhall Square for the more traditional and unique shops, and also visit Merlin's Walk, the established shopping centre in Carmarthen Town where you'll find names like Argos, TkMaxx, Carphone Warehouse, JJB Sports, Thornto's Chocolates and more.
